POSITION: Criminal Law Attorney-Part time

DESCRIPTION: Part-time. Busy Santa Rosa criminal law firm seeks a contract attorney to assist with our criminal cases. This an excellent opportunity for an attorney with the necessary skills looking to increase their practice load and/or supplement their income. Candidates must be a licensed member of the California State Bar. This position involves a 10-15 client case load and requires a people person who enjoys frequent contact with clients. We handle all criminal cases with the exception of homicides. 100% of our case load involves drugs, alcohol, thefts or assault cases with about 60% of our case load involving DUIs and DMV hearings. Applicant must be well organized, honest and reliable with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience. We are willing to interview applicants without 1-3 years experience if they have an impressive background and wage may vary if they are a fresh graduate. Must live in the Sonoma County area. Familiarity with legal terminology pertinent to general legal concepts and preferably in the area of criminal defense law. Assisting with court filings and assembling motions. Proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Office. Translate for clients and attorneys for client intake meetings, documents and contracts. Manage attorney schedules efficiently (attorney-client meetings, court appearances, etc.). Must be reliable, punctual and dependable with own vehicle and possess a valid California Drivers License. Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and office information. Answering a multiline phone system. Receive, screen and transmit telephone calls, conference calls, and messages to and from attorneys, clients and staff. Support the front desk including handling payments and issuing receipts to and from clients. Office calendaring with Outlook and updating the criminal calendar and cases on a daily basis.
