DESCRIPTION: Will mainly support the construction defect, complex litigation and insurance defense practice. Duties: Prepares legal documents, filings, and general correspondence with accuracy and precision. Propounds and responds to discovery. Efficiently handles case management order compliance. Responsible for e-filing with State and Federal Court Systems. Prepare cases for depositions, mediations and trials. Supports Attorney (s) in the preparation of legal arguments, applications, declarations and motions. Drafts responses to discovery, such as interrogatories and requests for production. Drafts discovery requests to opposing parties. Qualifications: Paralegal certification required. 5+ years litigation paralegal experience preferred. Construction litigation experience a plus. POSITION: Housing Attorney

DESCRIPTION: Provide legal representation to low-income tenants who face eviction or have other rental housing issues. Services are also provided to low-income landlords whose own housing is threatened due to a problem tenant. Legal services may include counsel and advice, preparation of pleadings, negotiations with property owners, and court representation. HOME services include assistance with eviction defense, Section 8 issues, habitability, and services for qualifying low-income landlords. Duties: Client Services: Conduct comprehensive legal needs assessment, provide information and brief advice. Draft pleadings and other legal documents. Negotiate settlements with landlords and property owners. Provide representation in unlawful detainer proceedings and at Section 8 hearings. Skills and Experience Required: Previous housing law experience, including familiarity with eviction defense, habitability and mobile home issues, and Section 8. Litigation or administrative hearing experience. Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office and database programs. Maintain up-to-date case notes and statistical records on services provided in client database. A firm commitment to accurate and timely data collection and time reporting (on bi-weekly time sheets and in the client database) is required. POSITION: 2 Health Care Attorneys (Remote)
DESCRIPTION: Job is majorly remote and requires travels to Sacramento on fewer occasions. Support clinical consulting service programs including the California Department of Managed Health Care and California Department of Health Care Services. Programs cover multiple subject areas including billing disputes, fraud and abuse, pharmacy formulary review, development of average contract rate methodology and medical consulting. The Appeal Officer will provide careful analysis of processes, techniques and procedures of cases in applying experience to ensure the appropriate practical determination is reached. Duties: Review cases to determine and summarize facts of each case assigned and assesses issues involved in the case. Research issues using federal law, federal regulations, relevant contract law and other sources. Review plan contracts and other relevant information and then make a decision as to whether an enrolled is entitled to benefits in cases involving contractual disputes. Communicate the determination in a clearly written format. Acquire all necessary information involving information and render final determination based on the information provided by the appellant. Requirements: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and JD degree required. Prefer significant experience in Health Care Appeals, Pharmacy Claims or other related fields. Working knowledge and use of PC, claim adjudication, MS Word and Excel software, and appeals system software.
